Legendary Kadongo Kamu musician, Willy Mukabya has expressed his discontent with the with President Museveni for completely sidelining him.
Willy Mukabya claims he has sung for President Museveni in all campaigns, since 1986 but he has never been compensated for his service.
‘‘I have sung songs of praise from way back as we were fighting in the bush but he has never paid me…” Mukabya burst into tears.
In a recent interview with the local media, the star stated that he is sick and tired of the unending lockdown on music concerts.
The renowned singer said that he stopped working the day the government banned concerts in a measure to curb the spread of #Coronavirus.
He said is reportedly broke and very sick. He can’t even afford a decent meal for his family.
Yet, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government has not come to his rescue. Mukabya has been their dependable man for over 34 years.
He says that the Yellow Bus Driver has overlooked him. He only considers his grandchildren, artists like Bebe Cool, Catherine Kusasira, Ragga Dee and Butchaman who have benefited a lot from the movement.
He decried the Í don't care attitude' by the President as he argued that both of them were in the bush in the 1980s.
‘‘Mzee Museveni, why do you leave me to suffer like this? I don’t believe I can suffer when you are still alive. I was in the bush with you.’’ Willy Mukabya said desperately.
He, therefore, requests anyone who can carry him to the State House to do so with immediate effect before his condition worsens.
He says there is no way he can fail to get financial assistance as long as he accesses the Nakasero State House.
‘‘Please! Take me to the State House. When Museveni sees me, he will sympathize with me and offer me financial support,’’ begged Mukabya.
During the early months of the lockdown, Mukabya engaged in a Boda Boda business but the venture was not successful.
He is desperately looking for an immediate source of income to treat his sickness and sustain his family.
