Fat Boy and Crystal Newman Make Radio Great Again.

'The truth is if #RecklessRadio is here, I don't want to know about other radios thanks

@CrystalANewman and @jamesonen returning to us, traditional Radio had lost meaning... Can't wait for the App.' A twitter fan posted upon the news that James Onen aka Fat Boy was set to roll out an online radio channel.

Fat Boy was relieved of his duties when he led a strike against the Sanyu FM management for slashing staff salaries during the COVID-19 lockdown that extended into early July.

Fat Boy is reported to have encouraged staff members to declare a sit-down strike on salary reductions, rejecting several pleas from the Sanyu FM management.

Management questioned why employees should continue taking home hefty salaries yet the company was facing financial problems caused by the lockdown.

Fat Boy was unceremoniously dismissed from Sanyu FM, a move that many saw as a relief moment for the listenership.

Radio enthusiasts debated his dismissal as an opportunity for the station to replace stale-monotonous presenters with new talent.

The radio station moved to recruit city comedian Patrick Salvador-the Man from Ombokolo who has now turned the Sanyu Breakfast show into 'ekiggunda' a classless show.

'The Uganda system is designed to force out good people, now Sanyu FM is like local Super FM.' A listener posted in a Whatsapp a group.

'Fat Boy is smart and interesting! That's why he has a huge following... Sanyu FM has lost the plot.' Another replied.

Today, Fat Boy and Crystal Newman through their all-new online #RecklessRadio are making radio great again.

They have gone digital and believe me, they will carry along their large fanbase from the traditional FM radio into the new realm of internet entertainment.

Fat Boy and Crystal Newman have been the longest-serving radio hosts on 88.2 Sanyu FM which is Uganda's oldest private radio station.

The station commands a big listenership among the youth and elite in greater Kampala.
