Uganda's superstar Dr. Jose Chameleone a.k.a Joseph Mayanja is seriously considering running for the Kampala Mayoral office in 2021.
Even though more and more musicians and entertainers express their interest in this position, this hasn’t moved the determined musician at one bit.
According to Chameleon, it has always been his passion to be a leader at the age of 25 years old.
“I have always been a leader. And now, am coming fully to serve the people. I have traveled to many places and seen how other cities are organized. I want to bring some of things in outside countries here,” he said.
The independent candidate is currently competing with Erias Lukwago is interested in retaining his seat, Dan Kazibwe (Ragga Dee), Latif Ssebaggala, Abed Bwanika and others.
Chameleon consulted with his inner circle, political associates, and possible campaign team heads and made serious studies of his chances which prompted him to run for the office.
Also on his thoughts as to why he chose to contest, Chameleon said his fans asked him to give it a shot and that the Lord Mayor needs to know that there were people occupying that office before him and they will still occupy it after him.
In case the determined musician wins the office, he will eventually be the second popular musician to run for the Kampala mayoral office, after Ragga Dee lost to Erias Lukwago in the last election 2016.
Nevertheless, Chameleon was inspired by his close buddy Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine who is the current Member of Parliament for Kyadondo East and is also set to run for the presidential elections come 2021.
