Multichoice Uganda raises subscription fees for DStv and GOtv.

Uganda's leading television provider, Multichoice Uganda has raised subscription fees for all their packages.

"We understand times are tough and Ugandans are under pressure to make every Shilling.

That is why we kept the price adjustment below inflation to ensure the Dstv packages are affordable and accessible to our customers," the notice read in part.

Multichoice says factors determine the pricing of their subscriptions. The rising cost on satellites, distribution equipment and the content has dictated the price change.

The DStv premium package that was at UGX 219,000 was increased to UGX 227,000. Subscribers will be required to top up a nominal 8,000 Uganda Shillings for their favourite premium content.

The compact plus sport package was raised by just 6,000 Uganda Shillings from UGx 129,000 to UGx 135,000.

See the table below for the price changes:

MultiChoice Uganda was established in 1994. The company has made an estimated US$150 million contribution to the national economy.

MultiChoice employs several hundred Ugandans directly and helps sustain the businesses of over 1 000 installers, agents and retailers, most of which are small businesses.

Her customers have a choice of over 140 channels delivered through DStv and GOtv services.
