Updated: Jul 21, 2020

The case is a 36-year-old Ugandan, a resident of Kakungulu Zone, Kibuli, a Kampala surburb, who returned home Saturday morning at 2.00am aboard Ethiopian Airlines from Dubai. He had traveled out of Ugandan on March 17 for business.

Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng the Health Minister said the confirmed case is currently isolated at Entebbe Grade B and all the passengers that were on board with the confirmed case are under quarantine and their passports are currently with the government.

On his return, he presented with symptoms of high fever and poor appetite. His temperature was at 38 degrees centigrade, prompting the authorities to isolate him for further tests, which later proved positive at Uganda Virus Research Institute - UVRI.

President Yoweri Museveni announced last evening that Entebbe International Airport and all Ugandan Borders will be closed from midnight today to stop passengers coming into Uganda from any part of the world.

“Passengers entering the country in buses, Boda Boda, taxis and on foot have been banned effective March 22,” the president said, as part of the additional measure to contain the #Coronavirus, which has paralyzed the globe.

To date, there are 1827 travelers under both self and institutional quarantine in Uganda. A number of these are Ugandan nationals.
