THAILAND FINDS CURE FOR CORONAVIRUS

Updated: Aug 18, 2020

Two doctors from Rajavithi Hospital, Kriangsak Atipornwanich and Subsai Kongsangdao have come up with new experimentations to fight coronavirus virus.

They are combining antiviral drugs with treatments for fighting the flu in ‘cocktail therapies’ to treat the new coronavirus.

The new coronavirus is the second viral pandemic to emerge from China since the 2003 SARS outbreak, has infected more than 9,800 people globally.

In addition, Hong Kong has 12 cases and Macao has five. Most of the 213 deaths have been in central Hubei province.

Meanwhile, different hospitals from Bangkok and Zhejiang provincial capital of Hangzhou are reporting cases of patients recovering from the epidemic.

The desperate search for a cure for the Coronavirus threw up a range of recipes, from traditional Chinese medicine to home-grown boiled garlic.

“We checked related information and found anti-flu drugs were effective on MERS so we combined both groups of medications," Rajavithi lung specialist Dr Kriangska Atipornwanich said according to the Bangkok Post.

The experiment was done on three patients with severe symptoms of the infection and showed positive responses. The Thai media reported.

One of the patients, a 71-year-old Chinese woman infected with coronavirus showed signs of improvement after she was treated with the Concoction.

"Her positive lab result turned negative in 48 hours," Doctor Kriengsak Attipornwanich said during the ministry's daily press briefing.

At the media briefing, doctors from the Public Health Minister updated the total number of confirmed cases in Thailand to 19. One has recovered, bringing the total number of treated cases to eight.

“Other coronavirus patients will now be treated with the flu/anti-AIDS drug combination especially as this combination has proved to be effective on patients with serious symptoms.” Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at the US National Institutes of Health stated.

So far, eight patients in Thailand have recovered and returned home, while 11 remain in hospital.
