Updated: Aug 17, 2020

NCDC has embarked on a mission to start distributing textbooks for the new curriculum on 17th February 2020.

The National Curriculum Development Center (NCDC) has developed Learners' Textbooks and Teachers Guides for all subjects in the new Lower Secondary Curriculum which begins with Senior One 2020.

Grace Baguma, NCDC executive director on Wednesday mentioned that about 4000 secondary schools countrywide will receive materials for the revised secondary curriculum.

The cabinet on Monday cleared the Ministry of Education to continue with the implementation of the revised lower secondary curriculum despite Parliament resolution to halt it.

Ms Janet Museveni, Minister of Education was given the green-light after briefing her Cabinet on what her ministry’s technical team had done in the last 12 years to put the curriculum together.

In the old curriculum, NCDC only developed the syllabus documents for each subject and then different authors went ahead to create textbooks and pamphlets which teachers and learners have been using.

Grace Baguma said that not all secondary schools will receive these materials so they should download them NCDC Portal.

And so far 335,000 textbooks have been printed including teachers' guide. She stated.
