The Parliament of Uganda last year amended the KCCA act putting in place a position of Speaker at KCCA and the divisions to separate legislative and executive powers that were all wielded by the Lord Mayor.
The Speaker and Deputy Speaker are expected to take an oath later today and immediately resume their duties. These among others include presiding over meetings of the council and being in charge of enforcing the rules of procedure for KCCA.
