I Cannot Be Ruled By Confused Bobi Wine-Stella Nyanzi

According to Ugandan scholar turned politician, Dr. Stella Nyanzi, Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine developed some form of brain disorder since the launch of his National Unity Party(NUP), a political wing of People Power.

The 45 year old Makerere University academic said that she had wholesome support for Bobi Wine when he was still running the #PeoplePower pressure group but ever since the Ugandan pop star formed a coalition with the National Unity Platform, she got so disappointed and therefore decided to distance herself from that mess.

As a highly educated feminist, Stella could not rally behind NUP which she said has no visible political structures and so it is an abomination if she continues to ride on such an aimless political bandwagon.

‘‘NUP doesn’t have structures, I can't be affiliated to it. Even ethics in my profession can never allow that, it’s an abomination.’’ Nyanzi noted.

Social media trolls have continued to wonder why the Makerere researcher has moved back to FDC but according to her, she rather goes back to tried and tested FDC than rally behind Bobi Wine who lacks vision.

According to PhD student at Makerere University Institute of Social Research, the gravest mistake kyagulanyi has ever made in his new political career is jumping onto the NUP party.

Buying off a weak political party does not strengthen him but rather weakens him. Bobi Wine’s genius and uniqueness centered on being as a political activist and an illogical, marijuana-smoking-dreadlocked entertainer whom Ugandans liked and enjoyed to listen to.

Bobi Wine as a singing activist was more powerful than this cool fellow in suits. Political analysts stress that Museveni and his entire legal and political machinery Museveni were dumbstruck by Bobi Wine's activism.

This was because they had encountered an unfamiliar enemy in the political atmosphere. The pop singer gave Museveni sleepless nights. Museveni was weighing how to deal with the famous Tuliyambala Engule singer.

Now, Bobi Wine has become a traditional politician wearing suits and ties-speaking Victorian English. He is no longer a threat to the NRM government but rather part of the weak opposition, that Museveni plays like a fiddle on a daily.

By becoming a usual politician, the magnanimous chairman, yet benevolent dictator Museveni of NRM will with little effort be able to harvest him like a ripe tomato. Bobi Wine has innocently joined that crafty club of noisy but tamable opposition songbirds.

When Museveni overloaded with sacks of money invaded his core territory in Kamwokya, Kisenyi and Katanga, Bobi Wine did not take it serious at all. Die-hards in the Ghetto area expected Bobi to be doubly charitable but to everyone’s surprise, the pop star did not cough a coin.

His greatest rival, Mr. Museveni in the process bought off his longtime friend, Buchaman and Full Figure. Self-assured of enormous support, Bobi Wine did not bother calling them back, he let them go.

Ditching his dreadlocks, torn jeans and T-shirts was a strategic mistake. He would have maintained this celebrity status to mobilise slum-dwellers onto the streets of Kampala.

Supporters argue that Wine had to compose more danceable bangers following up on Kyarenga – the love song that is simply political instead of dropping the “omubanda” label for an English gentleman.

In additional, International journalists have also failed to clearly understand the manifesto of Mr. Robert Kyagulanyi.

For example, Mr. David Pilling, in an article based on his interview with Wine reported that Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi failed to deliver anything of substance corncerning his distinctions in Ugandan politics and the challenges facing People Power.

The interview report only included Bobi Wine’s one or two lines dedicated to Museveni and his thirty-three years in power and how he detested Mr. Museveni calling him a prisoner of age.

Focusing strictly on Uganda’s “Ghetto President”, the international media realized that Bobi Wine had started a pitched political battle of young vs. old, good vs. evil.

Though the National Unity Platform has a collective aim of unseating President Museveni’s 35 year-old rule, Stella Nyanzi says the political organization of Bobi Wine and his affiliates suffers from an extreme lack of policy and direction.
