GEN. TUMUKUNDE COULD BE ARRESTED FOR SIDING WITH HOSTILE RWANDA.

Presidential aspirant and former security minister Lt Gen Henry Tumukunde's offices and residence in Kololo near Lawns Restaurant were cordoned this thursday evening by the military in what the General believes are readying steps to arrest him on concocted treason charges.

General Tumukunde is beleived to have angered Uganda's Commander in Chief, General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni after his 'careless' TV atturances that appeared to encourage President Kagame (Rwanda) to overthrow Museveni.

Tumukunde was seen appealing to Kagame on live TV to oust Museveni.

According to seasoned journalist Andrew Mwenda who was Kagame's advisor, Tumukunde is the one official who catalyzed ati-Rwanda fires in Kampala.

“He ranted and fretted, yelled and gloated anti-Rwanda and anti-Kagame rhetoric! He cooked lies that Rwandan intelligence using Kayihura were embedded on every arm and every leg of Uganda police,” Mwenda alleged.

President Museveni in 2018 fired Gen Tumukunde together with Gen Kayihura, at the height of public spat between the two Bushmen. The feuding, according to some insiders, choked cooperation between police and intelligence agencies and threatened to derail the national security.

General Henry Tumukunde's planned contest for the presidency is also seen as a thorn in Museveni's foot. The soft spoken General has gone further to notify the electoral commission to make arrangements for the elections come 2021.

It is believed that he has been making preparations to contest for presidency in the forthcoming general elections for a long time according to family members.

While apperaing on NBS TV's morning breeze on march 5th, he affirmed that he has been carrying out underground mobilizations.

"Do you know a man called Buyoya? Burundi's Pierre Buyoya, thank you very much...How was he defeated? Ndadaye came from nowhere and defeated Pierre Buyoya, do you know why? He used different techniques, a very underground operation." Tumukunde told the NBS Moderator.

Tumukunde intends to carry out countrywide consultations ahead of the elections in a bid to disorganize President Museveni who has been at a helm of power since 1986.

The 61-year-old General added that his sessions will target various interest groups in the country, with a view of facilitating his decisions ahead of nominations of presidential candidates slated for October 2020.
