Forum for Democratic Change speaker, Hon. Nandala Mafabi has criticized the Kampala Woman MP, Hon. Nabilla Naggayi Ssempala over her continued absence from the Parliament every time critical issues are being discussed.
At the time of voting for the Presidential Age Limit Bill, Nabilla was not in the parliament and during the time of the OTT Bill, she was nowhere to be seen.
He lashed out at the pretensions of Nabilla telling her to go to any other political party she wanted other than thinking that the FDC Party depends on her.
When asked about the number of times she has represented the concerns of the people of Kampala, she couldn’t give an elaborate response.
She just froze in her seat and then claimed that she was always sick and this is why she couldn’t attend every Parliamentary meeting.
‘‘Why didn't you die if you were so sick?’’ Asked Hon. Nanda Mafabi angrily on. A statement that has shocked the nation and calls into question the motives of FDC and its leaders in their quest to grab power from the ruling NRM.
Disappointed FDC supporters branded Nabilla a liar whose illness is only timely.
FDC members have referred to Nakawa MP, Hon. Michael Kabaziguruka who was brought to the Parliament by an ambulance to vote on the bill of Presidential Age Limit.
What kind of sickness was Nabilla suffering from? Was she bedridden and the Parliament didn’t know about it? FDC members wondered.
‘Nabilla's sickness is so timely, she fell sick when Parliament was voting for/against OTT, she fell sick when Parliament was voting for/against the amendment article 102(b)!’’ Nyanjura Doreen posted on her Facebook Page.
According to Doreen Nyanjura, Nabila brands FDC as very undemocratic, full of intrigue and lacks credible leaders, the party has often undermined her candidature.
"She so much despises FDC, yet she badly wants to carry her flag. We say no to political hawkers’’ Nyanjura posted.
FDC members added that Hon. Nabilla is an imposter who uses her position to spy and link information to the ruling party, NRM.
The reason she absents herself whenever sensitive issues are being discussed because speaking out loud against them would sabotage her coalition with the colleagues in NRM.
She never shows up at the time when the Party needs her but only appears at the time she wants nomination forms.
This is why her forms were rejected by the FDC Electoral Commission Boss although he said that this was done on the grounds that she missed out on the deadline for the return of forms.
‘It’s unfortunate that an imposter comes to the Party Headquarters purporting to be nominated, yet she did not pick forms from either the headquarter offices or any of the FDC district offices.
It is very unfortunate that a leader can be so dishonest to the extent of forging nomination papers’’ Boniface Toteremuka the deputy chairman FDC electoral commission explained.
A scuffle ensued between the supporters of Nabilla and other FDC supporters claiming that their candidate has been disrespected yet she is a staunch FDC member, a strong pillar of the Party.
However, these disagreements and fights could not alter the decision of the FDC Electoral Commission Chairperson Deputy, he entirely refused to receive her nomination forms.
In 2019, Nabilla came out in full support of Bobi Wine's bid for the Kyadondo East seat.
She criticized Besigye for failing to foster in changes at the FDC or ascend to power.
According to her, Besigye was supposed to stop dictating on them what steps to take since the opposition political terrain had already swung in Bobi Wine’s favour.
At this point, Nabilla had exposed her little confidence in the Party President, she boldly backed Bobi Wine over Besigye.
‘’It’s time for Dr Besigye to take a hind seat in Ugandan politics. The Brand Ambassador for the coveted position is Robert Kyagulanyi. He is the star and the rest settle for the star dust.’’ Nabilla told the media.
