Dr Ayume Devastates Evelyn Anite in Koboko Primaries

Updated: Sep 9, 2020

State Minister for Investment, Evelyn Anite, has conceded defeat in the hotly contested Koboko Municipality race.

According to provisional results, from 35 out of 36 polling stations, Dr Charles Ayume has 8,089 votes and Hon. Evelyn Anite has 7,321.

Early in the day, Anite tweeted that the moment of truth had come.

Smoke is indeed billowing from the chimneys of Koboko for Dr Charles Ayume, and Sheema in western Uganda for Katesh where hot contests have been settled in the National Resistance Movement primaries.

Dr Ayume remarkable performance has propelled him as the resumptive winner for Koboko after trouncing the controversial State Minister for Investment and Privatization.

Anite will no longer walkover Koboko municipality as a queen. Experts were shocked by Anite's defeat because she was confident that she would pull through given her closeness to the President and a throng of supporters.

Three days ago Anite Tweeted 'Warrap to the haters and sponsors of the losing camp'. Nonetheless, today the tide was not in her favour.

Dr Ayume is a son of the late Francis Ayume who was a favourite of West Nile. Ayume’s name has remained in the limelight even after his death after President Museveni appointed his wife Elizabeth Ayume an RDC in the same district.

Dr Charles Ayume was brought up under Museveni’s hand and given a job in State House.

He, however, resigned from the job recently to give Anite a run for her money in Koboko municipality.
