Presidential aspirant Robert Kyagulanyi has been summoned by the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) for holding rallies in complete disregard of the COVID-19 Presidential guidelines.
Bobi Wine will be facing the CID officials next Tuesday. Mr Charles Twiine, the CID spokesperson confirmed.
The CID has also summoned the State Minister for Investment, Ms Evelyn Anite for holding rallies and processions in her Koboko constituency.
“We have written not to only the two people, but also others, and some have already reported and recorded statements before we released them on police bond,” Mr Twiine said.
CID detectives also interrogated Dicksons Kateshumbwa (Katesh), the former Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) official whose team was pictured distributing knickers to women groups in Sheema, Western Uganda.
Katesh and the Koboko Municipality aspirant Dr Chales Ayume were released on police bond after interrogation.
President Museveni has urged leaders to stop people from gathering. "With Eleven people so far dead, confirmed to have had the Covid-19 virus, I call upon all leaders, especially political actors; please give the people the correct message. Social distance, wear a mask, covering the mouth and nose, and wash hands/sanitize." The President posted.
President Museveni avoided a crowd gathering at Kiyola Nakisunga. "I had to stop people from gathering and drove away to avoid encouraging forming a crowd." the President Tweeted.

The CID warns that the rallies are illegal as per the guidelines set by the Ministry of Health to stem the spread of #coronavirus in the country.
