Bobi Wine blocked by the military, supporters injured in Mbale

Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine the National Unity Platform presidential candidate has been blocked from appearing on BCU 100.6 FM in Mbale. The highly anticipated talk show was this morning, blocked by police and the military.

"They had mounted roadblocks all along the way and we somehow managed to dodge them. As soon as we got to Mbale, police blocked the entrance to the radio station and started firing teargas and live bullets. Many comrades were injured and are nursing wounds." Bobi Wine posted on his Facebook.

"Even when we paid to appear on this radio station, security agencies still blocked our show. As I was being blocked from appearing on the station, NRM politicians were and are still appearing on radio and television stations."

The political landscape appears to be skewed towards NRM advantage. Many opposition politicians have been blocked rallying the masses on radio stations.

Others have been arrested in what appears to be double standards by the NRM ruling party.

Bobi Wine is facing an uphill task to maintain his political contest with the incumbent President Museveni. It is alleged that State House Mafia are behind the calculated move of Andrew Mwenda joining the NUP.

Mwenda is poised to give Bobi Wine a running stomach in the days to come. Yesterday, the seasoned journalist paid for party membership for the NUP and also picked nomination forms for the flag bearer at the party headquarters in Kamwokya.

People Power supporters see Mwenda's move as highly hypocritical, owing to his strong allegiance to President Museveni. Social media was awash with mixed reactions of how Mwenda will use the NUP membership and flag-bearer contest to relay internal information back to Statehouse Entebbe.

However, Bobi Wine doesn't seem scathed by any of these events. The famous Uganda Musician turned politician, is ready to give Mr Museveni a run for his money come 2021. "We shall not just stop! We shall not stop at condemning this ridiculous and shameful conduct. We shall and must take solid actions to ensure that the rights and dignity of our people are restored." Bobi Wine Posted on Facebook.

The opinion poll released yesterday by the Research World International shows that Museveni's support is in a steep decline. The incumbent will score about 41 per cent in the 2021 general elections.

Buganda, Sebei, Busoga and Bugisu which have always supported President Museveni, are now gravitating towards the Opposition especially People Power. The polls results show that in Buganda, Mr Museveni scored 27 per cent against Bobi Wine’s 37 per cent, Dr Kizza Besigye’s 22 and Maj Gen Mugisha Muntu had 2 per cent. This is giving Bobi Wine the much-needed strength to soldier on
